ABOUT
My name is Brigitta Barczi, jeweller and jewellery designer. I am from Budapest, Hungary, but I live in Germany.
Creativity has always been an important part of my life, and I have always found joy in engaging in creative endeavors. I have explored various artistic pursuits such as painting, drawing, weaving, and sewing. However, it was in jewellery making that I truly discovered my passion. Over the years, I have experimented with different techniques and materials, continuously honing my skills. In 2018, I obtained a goldsmith degree from The School of Visual Arts Budapest. Getting to know the work with metals marked the beginning of a new love and a new direction in my life.
DESIGN
I always strive to design classical pieces that maintain their relevance even as the world changes. I consciously avoid trends that may feel fleeting or transient, opting instead for an aesthetic that has a timeless quality, while still reflecting my own style and artistic vision. The resulting jewels are eclectic and contemporary pieces designed for modern woman, for wearing every day.
CREATION
Every and each piece is made by hand, from the wax carving, the sawing to soldering and the final polishing. My casted jewelry is created intuitively, by touch and without computers. I make one piece of jewelry at a time, by paying special attention to each. This personal touch makes the jewellery truly unique, and the customer feels a deep connection with the piece that will accompany them throughout their lifetime.
When crafting my jewellery, I always strive for impeccable quality, yet I embrace the beauty of imperfection. The wabi-sabi philosophy holds a special place in my heart. This Japanese philosophy of life, which approaches aesthetics from a different perspective than the western approach. To notice the beauty in mistakes, in imperfection, in a small damage that does not spoil but makes the wearer, in this case, the jewelry, the object, even more special.
SUSTAINABILITY
I work almost exclusively with recycled metals like silver and brass. The wax used in the molding process is carefully saved and reused, ensuring that no material goes to waste. All of my jewelry is unplated in order to minimize environmental impact. You can read more about the raw, unplated brass and silver here.
In line with my commitment to sustainability, all of my jewelry boxes are made from recycled paper, sourced from Germany with FSC certification. This certification guarantees that the paper comes from responsibly managed forests, promoting environmental, social, and economic benefits. By using recycled paper, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change. Moreover, the production of recycled paper requires 70% less energy, 80% less water, and generates 39% less solid waste compared to paper made from virgin fibers.
